For the areas of the body that do not respond to exercise and diet there is Liposuction. This surgery removes deposits of excess fat from specific areas of the body slimming the hips and thighs, flattening the abdomen, shaping calves and eliminating a double chin.

Liposuction is recommended for people of normal weight who wish to improve their body contour.
One or more small incisions are made near the area to be suctioned. There are two forms of liposuction:
• Traditional Liposuction (Tumescent) is where the fat is pre-injected with a salt-water solution containing small amounts of adrenaline and local anesthetic.
• Ultrasound Liposuction uses the energy from sound waves to liquefy the fat before it is suctioned.
A compression garment is worn to make sure the areas suctioned are kept smooth and tight for about 3 weeks. Patients see a noticeable difference in the shape of their body immediately after surgery; however, the full results are seen after several months. As long as you remain at the same weight, your figure will be permanent. Many patients who do gain weight feel it is more evenly distributed and does not settle in the same problem areas.
